South Island Brothers’ Camp
South Island Brother’s Camp is an annual MUSA activity. Every year, usually during easter break, it is held on various locations around south island. It aims to strengthen brotherhood (ukhwah) between all muslim brothers in south island, and at the same time promotes and reminds islamic teaching to all.
Al-Huda Newsletter
This newsletter is published fortnightly by MUSA committee member. It aims to deliver the latest news about OMA and MUSA to Dunedin muslim society. Free copies are available at the mosque and can be downloaded at the Download page. Any questions/critics/opinions can be emailed to The Editor.
Halal Meat Shop
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, after Zuhr, Maghrib and Isya’ prayers, you can buy Halal meat from the mosque. Range of products available at the shop include sausages, beef and lamb dice, chicken, lamb chop, shin-fillets and diced beef.Click Meat Prices.
Friday Prayer
Friday prayer starts at 1.10pm every week. Important weekly announcements from MUSA/OMA to Dunedin muslim community are usually made after the prayer. Sisters also are welcome to the mosque during this time.
Islamic Study Circle
This study circle is held on every Friday night after Isha’. It gives chance to all brothers and sisters to remind each other, share their knowledge and thoughts for the betterment of muslim community in Dunedin and the world.
Arabic Class
This class is for all muslims to learn the lughatul Quran. It is conducted by the Imam and is open to all. It is held every Wednesday, after Isha’ at the mosque.
Arabic Course 2008
al-Quran Class
This class is held every Tuesday, between Maghrib and Isha’. It will cover tajwid, tafsir and tahfiz. It is also open to all.
Sports
Badminton, soccer and volleyball tournaments for brothers, during winter season, are held at the mosque indoor court. Keep your eyes for further notices and promotions.
Weekly soccer match, every Saturday between Maghrib and Isha’.
For sisters, swimming every Sunday at Physio Pool, 3.00pm-4.30pm.
Welcoming Gathering
Welcoming gathering is usually held on early March every year. It aims to welcome new muslim students to this community and build the bond between all MUSA members. Activies such as BBQ, soccer, volleyball and rugby touch are usually held during this gathering.
Farewell Gathering
At the end of each year a gathering is held for brothers who are leaving our Dunedin community. It is a very sad ceremony but it is a time which we will always remember.
Ramadhan Iftar Gathering
Ramadhan (fasting month) is the best time for building and strengthening connections within this muslim community. Iftar (break-fast) after maghrib prayer on every day during this month is the time when everyone sits and eats together, meet and greet others with respect. Brothers and sisters took turn to volunteer for cooking and cleaning.
